What Else Do I Have To Say?

It occurred to me
All over again
How weird the obsession 
With the JFK assassination 
Perhaps really is.

There are those
Who accept 
The original conclusion,
And others
Who even today,
Here in 2021,
Hold out hope
That we will learn
Differently.

And I ask you now,
If we did, 
What would be
The result?

If we learned
Some nefarious plot,
What would it change?

Apply a fresh layer
Of narrative horror?

So many 
Have already said
So many horrible things,
What would it change?

“We are better than that?”
And if not 
So what?

So what
If we let it happen?
We just elected
Another president
Despite another attempt
To claim king making
By any other name,
The verbal political jests
And maybe sometimes worse,
And maybe even sometimes better.

So what?
