An Almanac of Willful Ignorance

The worst thing,
I mean literally the worst thing,
Is when you choose to believe lies
That could very easily
And completely 
Be dispelled.
No one wins in that scenario,
No matter how much better
It makes you feel 
Or how harmless 
You think it is.
Such poison seeps,
And you will never even notice,
Because this poison doesn’t kill,
It contaminates
Generations.
It’s insidious heredity.
