The American Conscience Died with Robert, Martin & John

And maybe so,
Maybe those were 
Three crippling deaths 
We have yet
To recover from,
And, just maybe,
We can begin
The process of reclamation 
By finishing that.

There were no greater men
Of that era,
And none capable
Of living up to their legacy now.

So maybe
The great ambition 
Of our times
Is to try.
